Creative Wrapping and Blog Hop!

I'm so excited to participate in the Jingle Hop blog hop.  Hopefully you are visiting here after being at Sheri's amazing blog .  I have some great ideas to share with you in using fonts to help make your gift wrapping amazing!
You can't see all the font details in the group photo so we will do them one by one.
Word Search Tags: This is a fun way to mix it up Christmas morning. In order to figure out whose present is whose you have to solve the puzzle. For this tag I used SNF Uptown which is on sale for just $1!
Gift Bag: I made my cute little Christmas tree out of stickers. Everything else is just glued on. Clothes pins is a fun and easy way to label your gift bags. Just print, cut, and modge podge. I used SNF Uptown again and SNF Sunday.
Chalkboard Wrapping: There are several ways you can do this. I just used black paper and wrote on it with chalk before wrapping. The problem with using real chalk is that it smears! So I would suggest using white paint and a dry brush or a white colored pencil instead. There are lots of chalkboard paints sold in store or recipes for chalkboard paint on the web if you would rather just paint your paper instead of buying black paper.
Letter Tags: A fun and easy way to label presents. I just used my Cricut machine to cut out the letters and hole punched them to make them into tags. Hope you love the ideas.  Enjoy the fun Christmas font,  SnF Picardy while you are hopping around!  It's free through the 7th!

Tuesday Tip: DIY Cross Stitch Letter Art

I am loving the cross stitch lately. I have seen a few cute crafts so I thought it would be fun to share with you how you can make your own cross stitch letter or words on a canvas. Here are some examples that I just loved! (click on photos to follow to source)
If you are up for the challenge FREE HAND it like the image below.
Just had to share this skateboard!

Ok enough examples here are the steps...

1. Print out a square grid and tape it on the back of your canvas or draw one on the back with pencil. The grid can be small or large depending on how much time you are willing to put the cross stitching in. Usually the smaller the better it looks.

 2. Lightly color in the square that will create the letter or words that you decided on.

3. Paint the front side of your canvas or cover it with fabric.

4. Poke a hole in all four corners of the square you colored with a needle, awl, or just something strong enough to poke through the canvas.

5. Now you are ready to start your cross stitching! Make sure you tie a tight enough knot so the thread doesn't slip through. You can also glue the end of the knot onto the canvas just to make sure it stays. When you are done do the same to the other end and knot it then glue it down.

 HAPPY STITCHING!

Tuesday Tip: Learn How to Make Calligraphy

There is just nothing like beautifully hand written letters so today I want to show you how to turn your basic handwriting into calligraphy. Calligraphy pens do work best and naturally give you that variety in thickness with little to no effort but I’m going to show you how to do with a fine tip ink pen since it’s more common. If this is your first time or if you haven’t had much practice with writing neatly then I would write out your letters in pencil first. Then once you have something you like go over it in pen with just one stroke. Sometimes I will let my pen linger at the beginning and end of my letters to let the ink blot a little.
Now on most of your vertical/downward lines draw a second line really close next to it and flow it into the line you drew it next to.
Color in between the vertical lines you drew. I like to go over my single stroke once to make sure it flows more into what I just colored in.
Now you've got yourself some calligraphy! Just add your last finishing touch with some extra swirls, curls, and doodles!
